Tattenhall heat pump case study
Oil boiler replaced by a new anthracite Vaillant heat pump.
This Tattenhall project moved the home away from oil with a 7kW Vaillant aroTHERM plus, a compact unvented cylinder and a system that can also provide cooling during warmer weather.
The brief
Replace oil heating and keep summer comfort in mind.
The old oil boiler was removed and replaced with an air source heat pump system for the home's heating and hot water. The selected model is also cooling compatible, giving the customer the option to use the system for cooling in summer.
The design
A 7kW heat pump with a compact hot water cylinder.
My HeatPro installed a 7kW Vaillant aroTHERM plus alongside a new 150 litre unvented cylinder. The cylinder, controls and insulated pipework were arranged neatly in the available utility space.
The finish
Vaillant's new anthracite outdoor unit.
The darker anthracite casing gives the outdoor unit a more understated appearance against the brickwork, while keeping the familiar aroTHERM plus layout and controls inside the home.
The £9,000 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.
Because this project replaced oil at an eligible off-gas-grid property, it could use the £9,000 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant introduced on 21 July 2026. Eligibility still depends on the property and application, so homeowners should check thecurrent Ofgem guidancebefore relying on the higher grant.
