Sale heat pump case study

Vaillant 3.5kW heat pump and mains-pressure hot water upgrade.

This Sale project replaced an old vented hot water setup with a new Vaillant unvented cylinder and a neat wall-bracketed Vaillant heat pump installation.

Finished Vaillant aroTHERM plus heat pump installation in Sale
The brief

Replace the old vented hot water setup.

The property had an old vented cylinder, loft tanks and a noisy shower pump. The aim was to modernise the hot water system as part of the heat pump installation, so the hot water pressure matched the cold mains.

The challenge

Improve the system without boxing in future driveway work.

The outdoor unit needed a neat position beside the drive. Installing it on wall brackets kept it off the ground, which means future driveway work is less likely to need a heating engineer just to move the heat pump out of the way.

The solution

New cylinder, removed loft risk and one radiator upgrade.

My HeatPro installed the 3.5kW Vaillant aroTHERM plus, fitted a new 150 litre Vaillant uniSTOR unvented cylinder, removed the old vented cylinder, removed the noisy shower pump and took the loft tanks out.

One radiator also needed upgrading so the finished design could be backed by a minimum efficiency guarantee of over 400%.

Why this job is a useful example.

A heat pump installation is not just about the outdoor unit. This job also improved hot water pressure, removed old loft storage tanks that could leak into the house below, and kept future driveway options in mind during the installation.

Planning a heat pump?

Start with the whole heating and hot water setup.

Send over the basics first: current heating, hot water setup, postcode, timescale and any useful photos. My HeatPro can then advise whether a design consultation is the right next step.

The right answer depends on the home.

This Sale project needed a new unvented cylinder, one radiator upgrade and a wall-bracketed outdoor unit. Another property may need a different cylinder, different emitters or a different outdoor position.
